Copepods
The natural, reef-safe solution to unwanted Aiptasia.
Got Aiptasia taking over your reef? Berghia Nudibranchs (Berghia stephanieae) are specialist Aiptasia predators, providing a completely natural way to tackle infestations without introducing chemical treatments into your aquarium.
Unlike many other Aiptasia predators, Berghia are highly specialised feeders and actively seek out Aiptasia — including specimens hidden within rockwork and other difficult-to-reach areas.
Why Choose Berghia?
✓ Natural Aiptasia control – No chemical treatments required
✓ Reef safe – Suitable for established reef aquariums
✓ Aiptasia specialists – Their diet is almost exclusively Aiptasia
✓ Reach hidden pests – Able to hunt within cracks and rockwork
✓ Work together – Multiple Berghia can establish and reproduce when sufficient Aiptasia is available
✓ Hands-off control – Introduce them and allow them to hunt naturally
How Many Do I Need?
For the best results, we recommend introducing multiple Berghia rather than a single animal.
Light infestation: 2–4 Berghia
Moderate infestation: 4–8 Berghia
Heavy infestation: 8+ Berghia
The exact number required will depend on aquarium size and the severity of the Aiptasia infestation.
Important Information
Berghia are specialist feeders and require Aiptasia to survive. Once the Aiptasia population has been eliminated, they may need to be moved to another aquarium containing Aiptasia.
Certain fish and invertebrates may also prey upon Berghia. Wrasses and other active hunters can significantly reduce their chances of establishing, so please consider your existing livestock before purchasing.
Berghia are primarily nocturnal, so don’t worry if you rarely see them after introduction — they’re often busiest after the lights go out.
Introduction
For best results, introduce Berghia after the aquarium lights have switched off and place them carefully onto rockwork close to an area containing Aiptasia. Avoid placing them directly onto an Aiptasia anemone.
